"Satan For President"
Is a modern retelling of the Book of Job. Satan makes a bargain with God for the soul of America.
This is a secular work which takes literary license from religious dogma, politics, mass media and the human condition.
The premise is simple, this fiction supposes America is a favored nation: ''One Nation Under God''. Satan meets God and, as in the Book of Job, Satan convinces God that - if permitted a free hand - His favored nation will turn its back in Him.
The main character, Nicholas Astan, is a man with a sudden drive for politics. Astan has a plausible yet shadowy upbringing. We meet Nick Astan as he begins a run for Congress. The book is character driven, a colorful cast of characters keep the novel moving forward through worlds of politics, religious dogma and blind faith. All the while, evil is controlling events.
Written in the present, ''Satan For President'' is insistent with mature subject matter. This is a modern parable examining the human condition, race relations, hyper-polarization and layers of emotions.

Charles N. Diorio is a widely published award winning incarcerated author of fiction and scholarly nonfiction. ''Satan for President'' was written in the maximum security Souza-Baranowski Correction Center in Central Massachusetts.
